The 5 Pointz Graffiti Game

Last November, the famed Long Island City graffiti mecca known as 5 Pointz was practically obliterated overnight, its owner having hired a crew of painters to cover the place in white paint, quietly shutting down what was said to have been one of the largest aerosol art centers in the world. All in the name of… luxury condos, of course!

Well, if you thought 5 Pointz was gone forever, think again. The spirit of the art lives on with this totally beta, totally amazing computer game from Artsology. The rules are rudimentary and it’s pretty unforgiving in terms of your avatar (an image of a robot culled from the outside of the once-painted 5 Pointz) kicking the bucket, but the game’s got the best intentions. It’s like 1993 all over again, back when this whole city was covered in spray paint and the only video game you played was a black and white Pac-Man in your local donut shop.

It’s a small consolation, but we’ll take what we can get.
